Majestic from the kill pen to now!!!
Majestic came to HERD last winter lame and a low body score.
Six months of rehabilitation and groundwork with HERD turned this mare into a beauty to
behold. She is currently in riding training with Alene Harfmann in North Carolina.
Majestic is a 10 year old warmblood and is 16.1 hands.
Watch the below video to witness her transformation!

HERD has a new obstacle course for training the rescue horses!
Splash has been adopted
I wasn't convinced there was such a thing as love at first sight until I saw a picture of Splash on Facebook. I had begun casually searching for a new horse and there was something about the little paint gelding - not a pony but barely a horse - that caught my eye. He's been everything I didn't even know I needed in a new horse: easy going, quick learner, game and willing. He's done everything I have asked of him and I think a large part of this is in part to the training he received during his time at HERD. My family and I are so happy he's with us and look forward to many adventures to come.—Jennifer F.
Toby has been adopted!
Thoroughbred TOBY was in HERD since last winter. He came off the track and we gave him time to recharge his battery and come into his own again. He was happily adopted by Cortlinn Bailey of SC in July to be her eventing partner. Beth Harrill helped us make this possible with getting Toby started over fences and used to riding out quietly to explore his new world.
Chevy is ready for adoption!
This is draft cross CHEVY. He is a solid citizen, stout, 15.2 gelding. Vet who has known this fellow and gelded him confirmed his age as 11. He is in search of a home for trail riding, fox hunting, and just being a big pet! A HERD horse with amazing potential fits right into the family.

Picasso will be available soon!
Sedona has started her training with HERD
Sedona is a yearling mare who was saved with her mother from a kill pen. She is a Welsh pony and Haflinger cross. This was her first day in the round pen, she did so well we thought we would see how she would do trailer loading.

Athena is georgeous and lives up to her name.
Athena is a stunning three year old mare currently being pastured with HERD. For more information contact Heather@heatherfreeman.com
Plumb Lucky
The wrong horse was sent on the correct trailer to NC, so Plumb Lucky seemed an appropriate name for this wonderful pony. D. Brown adopted her from HERD and apparently she is quite the character.
HERD volunteers finish a run-in
This is what good friends of HERD do to help our horses. They built this incredibly sturdy run-in shed for us. Thank you Bill Mc Clelland and Valerie Lowe
Golden Honey Update
Golden Honey will call out for attention and loves her personal time. Bred repeatedly she is in under saddle training with HERD to find a new career.
Pearl update!
Look at Pearl in HERD is she not lovely. Had a good beauty spa day today what a pony. Thank you Valerie Lowe for helping me and fyi she is hidden behind our Pearl.
Loaded and on his way to safety!
Our beautiful save from Bowie on his way to quarantine at Bessie Bell thank you Timmy Riffe for going to get him for HERD. .
Stressful times--the remedy.
During these stressful and unsettling times this is what keeps me smiling
...my happy place among my mares.
Annie Oakley
Annie Oakley says coming into the barn for grooming and food is pretty darn nice experience for me.
Native Wonder
Up for adoption through HERD foster Emily Johnson. Native Wonder is an exceptional mare. Sweet, quiet, good mover and easy to handle with great athletic ability. Who needs a fancy RRP project TB for summer?
